Greenery challenge at Global Design Project #GDP459

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I am taking inspiation from this week's Greenery challenge on the Global Design Project #GDP459.

A split front card is the simplest of fun fold cards and an ideal way to showcase two different patterns of Designer Series Paper. The front of the card base is 2.5cm/1" shorter than the back allowing you to see two patterns at once.

The Season of Green and Gold Suite Collection is part of the Online Exclusive range and fits wonderfully with the Greenery theme! I used some of papers to layer on to the Mossy Meadow card front and to die cut foliage branches from. I also
die cut a circle from Vellum to arrange the greenery on to. Using different styles and colours of leaves, adding in a few cut from plain cardstock, I built up the arrangement for the centre of the card.

I have used some other Online Exclusive sets to complete the card. The large die cut label (Iconic Imagary dies) is overstamped with the leaf stamp from the Changing Leaves bundle using Versamark ink for a subtle, tone on tone colour. While the Versamark was out, I heat embossed the sentiment too. To highlight the gold foiling on the papers I added a hint of Gold Trim behind the sentiment and a few Pecan Pie dots.

I hope you like my interpretation of the Greenery challenge from the Global Design Project. Follow the #GDP459 to see what others have created using Greenery as their starting point.

A Colour Challenge for the Ink & Inspiration Blog Hop -August 2024

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I am delighted to be taking part in the Ink and Inspiration blog hop for August.

The challenge this month is to create a card using the colour palette or the photo as our inspiration. I have chosen to use the colours as the starting point for my card and I'm using the Attention Shoppers bundle to create with. I have managed to incorporate nearly all of the colours - Blueberry Bushel is missing; I tried blue flowers, but they just weren't working!

I have a landscape Basic White card base topped with layers of DSP from the To Market set, around which I tied a loopy Linen Thread bow. The shopping bag, bouquet and potted plant are stamped with Basic Gray ink, die cut using the coordinating dies and then coloured with Stampin' Blends. I added some Wink of Stella to the tissue paper wrapping to give it a more metallic look!

The shopping trolley is die cut from Silver Foil sheet (backed with Adhesive sheet for easy application to the card!) to give it the look of an authentic trolly. The items were arranged on my Silicone Mat to ensure they were spaced nicely and fitted into the trolly. After removing the backing to expose the adhesive I could then adhere the trolly to the contents. The pre-loaded trolly sits on Dimensionals above a Spotlight on Nature die cut circle and next to the stamped/fussy cut sentiment.

This shopping trolly card would be perfect to send to anyone in need of a treat or just to say hello! I hope that you are inspired by my card today and that you will continue along the hop to see what the others have created too - click on the names below to enjoy their  projects. We would love to hear from you and so if you have been inspired, please leave a comment.

New at SU! Blog Hop - Embossing Folder Techniques

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today, I am participating in the New at SU! blog hop. We are a group of Stampin' Up! demonstrators from around the world who are full of creative papercrafting ideas to share with you to get you crafting.

This month we are focussing on projects using Embossing Folders. I love adding textures and layers to my cards and embossing folders are an ideal way to add that extra bit of interest.

My card two types of embossing. The flowers and sentiment are white heat embossed and one of the layers has texture created with the Distressed Tile 3-d embossing folder.

I stamped several flowers on to a sheet of the Unbounded Beauty DSP, using Petunia Pop ink, die cut them and adhered them, together with some Summer Splash die cut foliage, onto a Basic White layer. After embossing this layer with the Distressed Tile folder the images became embedded into the pattern. I added further stamped and die cut images on top of this layer creating more height and dimension. The Petunia Pop flowers serve as the background for the Basic White elements!

Pretty cards look even better when there is a hint of sparkle so I added a trio of In-Color Shimmer Gems and coloured some of the flower petals with Wink of Stella. I adjusted the length of the die cut for the white heat embossed sentiment by cutting it twice to shorten it and raised it with Dimensionals over a loosely tied Baker's Twine bow.

I hope that you have been inspired by my project today. Continuing along the hop to the others will provide you with even more project ideas - you are currently with me, Furry Cat Designs by Karen Henderson - but before you hop on to the next post, please take a moment to leave a comment. We love reading your comments!
