Detailed Dogwood for #GDP430

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today, I am sharing a card inspired by this week's Sketch Challenge over at the Global Design Project.

I love following a sketch. You add details to a layout that you know will work. My Detailed Dogwood stamps from Sale-A-Bration had not seen any ink, so I wanted to create a card with them to rectify that.

I stamped the image on to Basic White card using Basic Gray ink which gives a warmer appearance than Balck Memento but still allows you to colour with Blends. The stamps have shading lines within them to indicate the areas to colour more deeply. For the flowers I used both the light and dark Petal Pink Blends on the petals and the centres are Daffodil Delight. The leaves are a mixture of Granny Apple Green and Soft Sea Foam and there is a hint of Pecan Pie on the stalks.

Following the sketch, I cut two layers using the Radiating Stitches dies from Basic White and Pecan Pie card. The white one was covered with floral images using second generation Basic Gray ink for a paler impression. The two layers were offset and adhered to a further, distressed and embossed layer of Basic White. I used the Timeworn Type embossing folder and then my scissors to create the rough edges adding a couple of stamped dragonflies to the background to add to the distressed look.

I took my Snips and fussy cut the coloured image, then curled it by pulling it between my bone folder and thumb to give some dimension to the petals and leaves. It is mounted onto the card with mini dimensionals. Finally, I added a faux tag, Linen Thread bow and some Cork Rounds to complete the card.

I'm really pleased with the vintage, shabby chic appearance of the card. Hope you like it too. Do you need any of the products  used on today's cards?
