Hello and welcome to my blog! Today I am taking part in a blog hop with some fellow enthusiasts who love sharing their creative talents using their Stampin' Up!® products. This month the Stamping Inkspirations blog hop is all about Harvest Time.
The hum of the combine harvester marks the end of the long summer days and the start of Autumn. There are many signs of the progressing seasons. As I sit in my craft room I can see the ploughed fields in the distance, the school children have had their Harvest Festival service in church and the nights drawing in. The nip in the air tells me that Autumn is well and truely here.
The leaves on the trees in my garden are just beginning to turn. I love the rich colours that nature gives us and falling leaves always reminds me of long walks and scrunching throught the leaves with my Mum and Grandad. So, happy memories and rich colours inspired my card today. The Love of Leaves set sprang to mind immediately and I've teamed it up with the both the coordinating dies and a fabulous new die called Stitched Greenery. It creates an absolutely stunning textured background.
The colour combination is Blackberry Bliss, Cajun Craze and Cherry Cobbler which, I have to admit, is a little out of my comfort zone. The colours are so rich and say Autumn to me, so I am glad that I challenged myself. The edges of the leaves are inked using Cajun Craze ink and a blending tool, then curled between my thumb and a bone folder for a natural, more rustic look.
To add to the richness I've added some metallic elements - the brushed metallic cardstock makes the most beautiful die cut leaves! Pulling apart some of the Cherry Cobbler and Gold Metallic ribbon allowed me to add strands of gold behind the leaves and to finish off I also added some of my favourite metallic pearls. (I think there is a place for those on almost every project!)
