Celebrate Sunflowers

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today, I am thrilled to be participating in Kylie Bertucci's International Blog Highlights for August. The words Thank You might be simple but when you show your appreciation by sending a card to someone who has helped you or inspired you they are very powerful.

This Highlight is all about saying Thank You and the fun bit is that there is an inspirational gallery of projects, all with the theme of gratitude, that you can visit. In the gallery you can vote for your five favourite projects and at the end of the voting the Top Ten Winners will be invited to take part in an International Blog Hop at the end of August. I would love to be able to take part in the hop, so I would really appreciate your help. Please would you visit the gallery and vote for my card?

Inspiration comes in many different guises and sometimes projects just seem to create themselves. Today's card is a perfect example! This morning, I looked at the sunflowers in my garden and although they have grown very tall, they aren't quite in bloom...yet! I am sure that with a few more sunny days that they will be in full flower very soon. More inspiration for the project came whilst I was doing my online Supermarket order. A lovely pack of napkins popped up as a suggested item I might like - they were bright (Bumblebee) yellow decorated with a large white sunflower! I took these as a sign that I was destined to make sunflower cards today!

It goes without saying that Bumblebee had to feature in the card somewhere and I've made several variations on a theme, but I have a favourite!

The card base is from Bumblebee cardstock, topped with an embossed layer of Whisper White. I created a faux linen effect with the Subtle folder - emboss as normal and then rotate the card through 90 degrees and emboss again. The sunflower is stamped in Soft Suede, die cut and then topped with a detailed Soft Suede die cut. The centre is from Early Espresso.

I used the new Banners Pick a Punch (available in the Mini Catalogue from 4th August) to create the fishtail end to the banner strip. The Thanks a Bunch is stamped in Versamark, white heat embossed and mounted on dimensionals.

I've had a great deal of fun making sunflower cards today and I have my fingers crossed for continued sunshine and flowers! Thank you for visiting my blog today, I'd be really grateful if you would visit the gallery and vote for my card.
