Cheery Calypso Coral for Global Design Project 142

As I sit at my desk this afternoon the sky is gloomy and it feels distinctly chilly.  My solution to this is to create something warm and cheerful for the Global Design Project #GDP142 challenge which this week is to follow a sketch.

http://www.global-design-project.com/2018/06/global-design-project-142-sketch.html

I've chosen to use some floral images from the Abstract Impressions stamp set and to show them off in warming Calypso Coral tones for my card.

On Whisper White card I stamped the leaves in Pear Pizzazz - the larger set of leaves were stamped off onto scrap paper first to create a lighter image but the smaller set of leaves are a at full strength to create a darker shade.  Similarly, the flowers are two tone Calypso Coral - first I stamped the darker accents and then added the large lighter blooms, after stamping off, over the top (I found it easier to line the images up this way).  The stalks are grounded onto a Pear Pizzazz swoosh!  The little picture is then die cut using my favourite Stitched Shapes framelits.  I am so pleased I have these dies, they are so useful and I use them all the time.  The flowers are completed by highlighting with a Wink of Stella and topping them with basic pearls.

For the diagonal element suggested in the sketch I have used Calypso Coral card and ink, with a different flower stamp from the set, to create a monotone background which rests on top of a textured piece of card.  The new Subtle embossing folder creates this beautifully subtle textured background - it's brilliant and it's definitely going to be one of my go to items for the foreseeable future!

I'm pleased to say that making this card has lifted my spirits despite the dullness of the weather outside!  So much so that I did a couple of alternatives too!

Thank you for visiting today and I hope that you like today's cards and that the sun is shining with you.  Happy Crafting,

Share What You Love by sending a box of cards!

The theme for Kylie's International Highlights for June is FRIENDSHIP and I'm super excited to be taking part again.  The best bit about this Highlight is that you can vote for your favourite five projects.   The top ten winners will get the chance to be part of an international blog hop so I would really appreciate it if you would VOTE for my project.

Today, I'm sharing a box filled with cards that I'm giving to a friend to celebrate her recent good news (the celebrate card above is the one I'm writing to her and the others are for her to send!).  I chose to use these particular papers because she admired them on a card that I had received, so I'm sure she will approve!  I think this project fits the Friendship bill perfectly.  I would love it if you would vote for my project HERE.

These wonderful Share What You Love designer series papers really are fabulous and I wanted to make them the star of the show.  The box itself is made from Blackberry Bliss card and decorated with beautiful paper and ribbons.  The little pocket on the front will accomodate a book of stamps and one of the exquisite roses from the Embellishment Kit adorns the flap.

A box of cards isn't complete without cards, so there is a selection of cards with envelopes to fill it up.

Firstly, there are small square, Mint Macaron cards that feature the Lovely Floral Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.  I took inspiration for these from the Annual catalogue, p176.  I have highlighted the raised image using a white chalk marker, which is easy to do because it is so deeply embossed, giving a soft and subtle effect.  To finish the card I have added flowers, that are fussy cut from the papers, pearls, twine and a sentiment stamped on a stitched die cut shape.

This card echoes the box as it has a Blackberry Bliss base and features the same patterened paper.  To allow the paper to shine all that has been added is a simple sentiment and a strip of velvety ribbon.  Simple and gorgeous!

Although I have used different patterns, the layout for this card is the one that prompted the compliment from my friend.  The only thing that has been added is a few of the Artisan Pearls.

Thank you for visiting my blog.  I do hope you have enjoyed this project.  I'd be really pleased if you visited the gallery and voted for my project!

Happy crafting,

Abstract Impressions meets new In-Colors for Global Design Project #140

Welcome to my blog!  Today I am sharing a project that I've made for this week's Global Design Project, where the challenge is to CASE the wonderful project by Brian King.  When you CASE a project you can take what you like from the design and make it your own. It might be the stamp set, the colours, the layout, the theme, the images - whatever you like that has inspired you to make a card of your own.

http://www.global-design-project.com/2018/05/global-design-project-case-designer.html

For my card I wanted to celebrate friendship and how important the spirit of kindness is.  Kindness isn't expensive and I'm a firm believer that if you haven't anything kind to share, that you should remain quiet! Here's to kindness and friendship!  Sending a card can be so many different things - Happy Birthday, Thinking of You, Sorry! or Just Because, but each and every one is kindness in an envelope.

I've chosen to use the new In Colors for 2018-2020.  Meet Lovely Lipstick, Grapefruit Grove, Pineapple Punch, Call Me Clover and Blueberry Bushel.  Aren't they stunning?  I have also used a new bundle from the new Annual catalogue called Abstract Impressions.  The Abstract Impressions stamps and the Springtime Impressions dies can be purchased separately, but when you buy them as a bundle there is a 10% saving compared with the individual prices.

The floral images that are the feature of the card were die cut from watercolour paper and coloured using the In Color markers.  This is easy to do by scribbling ink onto a non-porous surface (I used a clear block) and then picking up the colour using an aqua pen - just make sure you clean the block and the pen between colours!

The basket weave embossing folder provides the texture for the background.  I'm thinking of a wicker basket filled with freshly cut flowers.  Just look how deep that pattern is!

The sentiment is stamped in Lovely Lipstick, die cut using my favourite Stitched Shapes framelits, mounted on a Lovely Lipstick scallop circle and then nestled into the flowers and foliage.  A few basic pearls finish off the picture.

Thank you for visiting today.  I hope you like my interpretation of Brian's card.  For more inspiration be sure to look at the other entries in the gallery.
