Impressions Abloom for the New at SU! Crafting in Colour Blog Hop

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today, I am participating in the New at SU! blog hop. We are a group of Stampin' Up!® demonstrators from around the world who are full of creative papercrafting ideas to share with you to get you crafting. The theme of our Blog Hop this month is Crafting in Colour as we are showcasing the brand new InColors from the 2025 Annual Catalogue.

For my card I chose to use one of the new Online Exclusive bundles called Impressions Abloom. It's a gorgeous floral bundle, which I thought was a good way to incorporate all the new InColors. First, let me introduce the new colours (you can see them on the banner above too). Their names are Strawberry Slush, Timid Tiger, Darling Duckling, Cloud Cover and Secret Sea. Secret Sea has rapidly become my favourite and I'm already into my second pack of cardstock!

Way back in March I attended OnStage in Strasbourg, which is a
Stampin' Up! event for Demonstrators. As an extra you could choose to go to an evening session, called After Hours, and have the opportunity to create with brand new products, including the new InColors. It was so much fun chatting and creating alongside lots of other Demos. We had a choice of two bundle to use on the night and I chose to use the Impressions Abloom bundle - so I knew that I wanted to revisit it for this project.

Flowers come in all shapes and sizes and a multitude of colours. So, anything goes! I stamped and die cut lots of flowers and then picked a selection that were pleasing to my eye before arranging them on an embossed background.

This bundle offers multiple options for creating the flowers but my favourite way was to use tone on tone stamping on Basic White card. I stamped the solid background first using the second generation of ink and then stamped the detailed image over the top using full strength ink. This way the background is a paler shade of the detail. After stamping each of the three flower shapes in the way, you can simply die cut around the edge of the petals or, with the addition of another die, you can add extra, small indentations which give depth and texture to the petals. They are all lovely and it was hard to choose which ones to use.

I've used the additional texture die, aswell as the outline, when I cut the centres from cardstock. It adds that little something extra to them.

I surrounded an embossed layer of Basic White with a Secret Sea frame (from the Bundle) over another embossed layer, this time in Strawberry Slush. I love using embossing folders to add texture to my projects, and these two are going to be used a lot - they are gorgeous.

I wrapped White Baker's Twine around the layer before adding the flowers. I curled the petals slightly and added them to the card with a mixture of Dimensionals and Glue Dots to give a variety of heights. So that I didn't have to introduce another colour, I have cut the leaves from Secret Sea instead of green. And, I opted for no sentiment on the front as there is already a lot going on. I think it works!

I hope that you have been inspired by my project today. Continuing along the hop to the others will provide you with even more project ideas - you are currently with me, Furry Cat Designs by Karen Henderson - but before you hop on to the next post, please take a moment to leave a comment. We love reading your comments!

  1. The embossed details (two different designs) is a charming detail that elevates this already-fabulous card! SU! thoughtfully considers how the In Colors blend with each other, and your card demonstrates it.
