Stamping Inkspirations Blog Hop - August 2021

Hello and welcome to my blog! Today I am taking part in a blog hop with some fellow enthusiasts who love sharing their creative talents using their Stampin' Up!® products. This month the Stamping Inkspirations blog hop is all about Fonts.

I chose to use the Quiet Meadow bundle for my card today - I was initially drawn to the wonderful silhouette dies, but as I've been using them I have come to realise that the the stamps are fantastic too. Not only are there floral images and sentiments but there are also splatters and text which are wonderful for backgrounds! So this versatile set was a perfect choice for my card and our theme today!

Ideas for this card have been bubbling around in my head for a while, so I was so excited to sit down and actually make it especially as I was able to incorporate an embossed layer using my new Timeworn Type folder! The finished card even resembles the sketch I'd made of how I thought it would look - now that doesn't happen very often!

So, how did I make it? The colours are Early Espresso, Sahara Sand and Polished Pink - I wanted a grungy, vintage look for my card representing old, creased pages in worn out books but I also wanted a pop of colour.

The edges of the Timeworn Type embossed layer are coloured using a Blending Brush and Sahara Sand ink. The layer is further distressed by curling the corners between my bone folder and thumb, just like you would when curling a ribbon for a parcel. The more times you pull through, the softer the card becomes and sometimes the fibres separate too. The curled edges were left unattached when I adhered the Sahara Sand Layer to the Polished Pink one.

I love having a small frame on my card - this time it's from the Stitched so Sweetly set and the Sahara Sand picture sits just inside the stitched, scalloped edge. I stamped the spray of flowers at the bottom and off to the side using Easly Espresso ink. Then, I filled in the spaces using the typewriter script background. This time I used Sahara Sand ink for a subtle tone on tone effect.

The flowers were stamped on to Sahara Sand card using the darker Early Espresso ink, coloured using Stampin' Blends, fussy cut and then crumpled. As the fibres break down in the card it becomes soft and pliable and acts more like fabric. They have the appearance of a flower that has just unfurled itself to the world!

A Polished Pink die cut butterfly didn't look quite right, so I cut one from Sahara Sand, coloured it with Blends, overstamped it with the flower image to give the wings veins and then crumpled it too.

I had to use another font on the card too. A dainty tag stamped with Love is so adorable. It's attached using natural thread wrapped around the frame and the little bow has frayed ends. Finishing touches were to add Metallic Pearls to the silhouetted flowers and Opal Rounds to the coloured ones.

The fonts on my card aren't the dominant element, but they were the driving force in its creation. I hope that you are inspired by my card today and that you will continue along the hop to see what the others have created too. Enjoy the projects. We would love to hear from you and so if you have been inspired, please leave a comment.
