It's official. Another stamp set has earnred the title "my current favourite stamp set!" Happy Birthday Gorgeous has been sitting on my desk for quite a while, and I was beginning to think that nothing could take its place as my favourite set. Well it now has company! At last I have opened the Oh So Eclectic stamps and I think that the sets could become quite good friends!
I knew as soon as I saw the cover of the catalogue that I needed to have the Oh So Eclectic bundle. Those images are simply gorgeous.
My needs were confirmed when I saw the geometric die on page 133 of the catalogue. I've used the die in several ways, including to create a mask for sponging through, creating a border (more of those in future posts) and simply to create a pretty cut-out pattern. I have so enjoyed creating with this bundle, and the more I use it, the more I like it.
My first makes were to recreate a card from the front of the catalogue. I've stuck to the colours shown on the cover - Lemon Lime Twist (stamped off to create a lighter shade), Soft Sky, Berry Burst (also stamped off) and finally Night of Navy for the large flower and the words. The only things I changed were to stamp on to a die cut white square, using the Stitched Shapes Framelits, and then to add a couple of layers behind it.
Once I'd copied these two cards from the catalogue I was raring to create another one that had a more design input from me! I kept the idea of the layered squares, added a little ribbon tab and added a selection of pretty flowers and leaves. There's a selection of textures - a Berry Burst flower stamped on to Whisper White card and over stamped with Night of Navy ink, a flower with a combination of stamping and die cutting and leaves stamped onto both white and Lemon Lime Twist card. The largest flower has been painted with my Wink of Stella pen and the stamens are tiny pearls.
