Hello and welcome to my blog! Today I am taking part in a blog hop with some fellow enthusiasts who love sharing their creative talents using their Stampin' Up!® products. This month in the Stamping Inkspirations Blog Hop we are creating projects to reflect the Sounds of the Season.
I work at a Primary School and there are always lots of Christmas tunes sung at this time of year to get ready for school plays and church services. My Reindeer Days Bundle has not been used as much as I would have liked and I thought this challenge would be a perfect way to rectify that.
This card took me ages to make - not because it is complicated, because it isn't. Initially, I was thinking about Jingle Bells and using the reindeers and the coordinating paper covered with red jingle bells. I tried for a long time. Really I did but, the idea I had in my head wouldn't work on my card. So, after a break I came back and changed my focus from Jingle Bells to Rudolf with his red nose.
I used Real Red, Garden Green and Pool Party, as they are colours that are featured in the Designer Series Paper, for the card base and layers. There's a Real Red layer embossed with the Plaid folder topped with a snowflake embossed layer of Pool Party and, finally, a green layer with a leafy aperture cut with the fabulous foliage die. I only applied Tombow liquid glue to the very outside edges of the green layer which allowed me to nestle the Rudolf in underneath the foliage.
The dies to construct the reindeer are so clever - for my Rudolf I used a solid Early Espresso layer at the back topped with a Crumb Cake element that creates the inside of the ears, snout and tummy and then the third layer of Pecan Pie frames the features. Just look at those details!
I cut an additional middle layer from Real Red to create the famous red nose. The waste piece perfectly fits into the aperture to change the Early Espresso nose to a Real Red one!
The front is finished with a skinny sentiment and a Baker's Twine bow and on the inside the front flap there is a small pocket into which I can tuck in a gift card.
So, in the end this has turned out to be a super simple card. Even though it is not what I set out to make, I hope you agree that it's cute and appealing! Please continue along the hop to see what the others have created too...enjoy the projects! We would love to hear from you and so if you have been inspired, please leave a comment.
