Beautiful Moments

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today, I am sharing a card made with the Beautiful Moments stamp set. I love the way these two are looking at each other so intently whilst they walk along the beach. It also makes me want to visit the sea! Roll on warm, sunny days and walks by the shore.

Seaside Spray card seemed the perfect one to use for the base card and I added a further layer of Seaside Spray some So Saffron which were topped off with a layer of Vellum card stock. These blocks of colour were embossed using the Subtle embossing folder and loosely represent the shore, water and sky in the little scene. In addition, there are very skinny layers of Early Espresso card to create a frame. I think it makes the layers pop!

The idea for the layers of colour came from the Sketch Challenge over at The Paper Players this week. Their sketch looks like this:

I wanted the card to have a warm, weathered look so I chose to watercolour the image by  stamping on Shimmery White card with black StazOn ink. There are various ways to watercolour in Stampin' Up! colours. You can use ink pads or reinkers or Stampin' Write Markers in a similar way - transfer some ink onto a non-porous surface, an acrylic block is ideal, and then use an Aqua Painter to have fun colouring in the image. Alternatively, you could also use Watercolour pencils. I used my ink pads, but use which ever method you prefer.

Some Natural Linen Thread is wrapped around the embossed layers and a couple of flying birds are stamped in the background. The watercoloured image is cropped using one of the Stitched Rectangle dies, mounted on Early Espresso and popped up on Dimensionals to finish the card.

Making this card has been a great escape from the cold February weather and it is making me look forward to the warmer summer days later in the year. Thank you for visiting me today - hopefully you enjoyed the brief escape to the seaside!
