Shine, Star of Light for Global Design Project #096

I'm delighted with the way this card turned out.  It is simple and striking and I love it.  The Global Design Project is hosting a CASE the designer challenge this week.  I've made a Christmas in July card in answer to the challenge.

To CASE a project you can take what you like from the design and make it your own. It might be the stamp set - the colours, the layout, the flowers, whatever you like that has inspired you to make a card of your own.  The designer to CASE this time is Tanja Kolar.

CASE = Copy And Selectively Edit.  There are several elements that immediately appeal to me.  The white space gives a clean and simple feel to the card, the dragonfly is stunning and the stitched layers are always a winner in my book.   A beautiful card.  I could quite happily just copy it but that isn't the object of the exercise!

I have created a clean and simple card, made predominantly from Shimmery White card with just a slither of Soft Sky peeking out from behind.  I know that we are only half way through July, but I couldn't resist using a snowflake.  I love the dragonfly, and I've used it many times (quite a few of them are stamped in Pool Party ink, and look very similar to Tanja's), but for my edit I wanted to have something completely different.  Snowflakes seem to fit the bill - aren't they sometimes described as Winter's butterflies?  With a little stretch of the imagination this could be extended to dragonflies too, couldn't it?

The elegant star is created using the Starlight Thinlits - one cut from Soft Sky and the delicate, icy top layer is cut from vellum.  A faceted gemstone sits proudly in the centre.  The star sits on top of two layering squares cut using the stitched Shaped Framelits and loops of silver metallic thread.  Shine is heat embossed in silver to complete the card.

I have a feeling that I will be repeating this card recipe.  Thank you for visiting today.
