Enjoy Life
Hello and welcome to my blog. For a few years now, the first Saturday in October has become known as World Card Making Day. It would have been rude of me not to make some cards on a day designated as World Card Making Day now wouldn't it? In addition, Stampin' Up! have extended the event, and called it World Card Sending Week, to encourage people to send lots of cards during the following week. So, I spent Saturday afternoon making cards. I am delighted to share a couple of them with you as part in Kylie Bertucci's International Blog Highlights for October. The theme is encouragement.
The fun bit about this Highlight is that you can vote for your favourite five projects in the gallery. At the end of the voting the top ten winners will get the chance to be part of an international blog hop that will take place at the end of October. I would love to take part in the hop, so I would be really grateful if you would visit the gallery and vote for my card.
I used a new to me set of stamps called Enjoy Life - isn't that a fabulous title? I was particularly drawn to the natural, floaty foliage and the sentiments in this set - isn't the script beautiful? That being said, the first few cards I made with this set had to use the foliage and one of the beautiful setiments.
It couldn't have been easier to create the background using a sponge brayer. All I did was to load the brayer with colour (Pear Pizzazz and Balmy Blue) and then apply it (very lightly) to a piece of Whisper White card. The two colours overlap a little along the horizon for a softer look. Next, I added the foliage. I used Soft Suede ink and stamped repeatedly across the whole piece. The scene is so peaceful. All I added was a few butterflies to complete the serenity.
On one the first version of the card the sentiment is stamped and die cut using the Frosted Bouquet Framelits. It is possible to cut a label and a frame using these dies giving a lovely layered look. And the twist of Natural Linen thread completes the natural look.
The second version of the card is simpler with the sentiment being stamped and then punched out using the Everyday Label Punch. On both versions the sentiment is embellished with a little bird and popped up using Dimensionals.
Thank you for visiting my blog today. I'd really appreciate it if you would visit the gallery and vote for me! I hope that you have been inspired to make and send a card. Go on, make someone feel special and tell them that you are thinking of them.
