Every two weeks or so the team that I'm a part of has a challenge to create and share something that will inspire the rest of the team. This time around we have a sketch challenge. I had a head start on the rest of the team because I set the challenge...the starting point has a tag as the focal point together with a sentiment on a thin strip. This was my interpretation of the sketch!
The Dragonfly Dreams bundle also contains a bumblebee which I have teamed up with the Hexagons Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. I have used the Hexagons folder in the usual way on the white part of the tag, but I have also used it as a stamp on the background. All you have to do is apply ink to one side of the folder, sandwich the card layer inside the folder and press together. Voila! A honeycomb background. Admittedly, it does feel a little bit weird to use the folder in this way, but I love the result and it feels just right for this picture.
The embossing folder gives a really deep and luxurious texture to the card. Extremely tactile. The bee's wings are adorned with a coating from the Wink of Stella pen and the finishing touch is with a baker's twine bow on the tag.
Thanks for stopping by today. Happy crafting

Dragonfly Dreams for #GDP075
The challenge for the Global Design Project this week is a theme based challenge and the theme is Winged Creatures. Perfect! The bundle that is currently on my desk is Dragonfly Dreams, so here goes for my contribution to the challenge:
My card is a small square one made from Bermuda Bay cardstock and topped with layers of Mint Macaron and By The Shore Designer Series Paper. There are a further two ovals of cardstock that are topped with the gorgeous dragonfly, which has been stamped on shimmery white card for that little added sparkle.
The stamped dots soften the edges of the oval layer and look surprisingly random. They compliment the patterned paper too! The finishing touches are a simple "thanks" stamped onto a small stiched framelit oval, a linen thread bow and a small wooden flower shape. I love this simple card and I think that the colour combination is just perfect for the beautiful dragonfly.
Thanks for stopping by today. Happy crafting

Casing Sara, Stampin' Up! CEO, and Sale-A-Bration glimmer paper
A while ago Sara, the Stampin' Up! CEO, shared a technique for a card that I loved. Sara's card was all shimmery and pink, which was absolutely perfect for her Valentine creations. As soon as I saw her card, I knew that I wanted to use the same technique, but for a dragonfly card using shades of green.
The starting point is shimmery white card, which even after being coloured retains its glorious shimmer. Then put a few drops of reinker onto a clear block, mix with a few drops of water from an aqua painter...and paint! I used (from top to bottom) Pool Party, Mint Macaron and Bermuda Bay. The colour is beautifully vibrant, and a little ink goes a long way so you can easily make multiple backgrounds. It is important to let the ink dry thoroughly before adding the sentiment, and if you are in a hurry you can speed this process up by using a heat tool.
I have used the dies from the Dragonfly Dreams bundle to cut out two layers for the dragonfly. The top filagree layer is cut from Mint Macaron cardstock allowing the solid sparkly layer behind to peek through. This background layer is cut from the new Sale-A-Bration glimmer paper! It is fabulous and you can choose it very soon. To finish the tent folded card the dragonfly is set on top of a swirl of metallic thread.
From February 21st there are three additional Sale-A-Bration rewards available when you spend £45 (before post and packing) - there are two new stamp sets and a pack of Glimmer Paper to choose from. See them HERE
Thanks for stopping by today. I hope you will try Sara's colouring technique...let me know which colour combination you use. Happy crafting

Sale-A-Bration Thank You
The card I am sharing today is one that I designed especially to say "Thank You" to my customers. I am always truly grateful whenever anyone chooses to place an order with me and it is wonderful to be able to create a card to show my appreciation.
I'm really pleased with the colour combination here, and it is so different to all the red and white creations that I have shared recently! These colours are Mint Macaron, Daffodil Delight and Bermuda Bay. Although yellow is a favourite colour for one of my children, it isn't a colour that I would normally gravitate to myself. However, for this card, I am pleased with the brightness that the addition of yellow adds, and it also compliments the copper embossing!
First I stamped and copper embossed the "Thank You" from the "So Very Much" Sale-A-Bration stamp set. Sometimes heat embossing is saved just for Christmas projects so it feels like a real treat to work the heat embossing magic outside the festive period! Next, I built up the pattern in the corner using the flowers and leaves from the very versatile "Swirly Bird" stamp set. Finally, the finishing touch was to use the splodges from the "Swirly Bird" stamps to soften the edges around the card.
I really enjoyed putting this card together, and using the "So Very Much" stamps that I had earned for free during Sale-A-Bration made it even better! Sale-A-Bration continues until 31st March and for every £45 spent from either the Annual Catalogue or the Spring Summer catalogue (before shipping and handling) you can choose a free Sale-A-Bration item.
Sale-A-Bration is a wonderful time of year. Spend £45 on products and you can choose a free Sale-A-Bration item, but it can get better than that! Extra Stampin' Rewards are available for orders over £200.
If you join up to be a demonstrator during Sale-A-Bration there is an amazing deal! Get your choice of £130 worth of product for only £99, including delivery. In addition Stampin' Up! will throw in your choice of two free stamp sets - that's an added value of up to £93! After that you will qualify for a discount on your future purchases as long as you stay active. You can choose your starter kit HERE and if you have any questions, please contact me at furrycatdesigns@gmail.com
