Kylie's Demonstrator Training Program Blog Hop March 2020

Hello and welcome to my blog. I am thrilled to be taking part in a blog hop with fellow demonstrators, from around the world, who are part of Kylie Bertucci's training program. There is no theme for the hop, but there is sure to be a wealth of inspiration for creating with Stampin' Up! products.

A few weeks ago I made some Artist Trading Cards as part of a team swap. I had so much fun making the ATCs that I wanted to do a similar thing on a card. The Beautiful Moments stamp set has some gorgeous images, perfect for colouring, as well as thoughtful sentiments written in a handwriting style font.

Quite near to where I live we have a lavender farm which is heavenly to visit in the summer. There are rows upon row of bluey grey lavender and you can wander in the fields to harvest your own supply. The scent is wonderfully heady and there is a hard working hum from visiting bees. The memory of this scene inspired my card today.

So to create the sky and the lavender field background, I used Whisper White card, and a sponge brayer with Balmy Blue and Highland Heather inks. Then I made an overlay with Vellum cardstock. The image is stamped in Black StazOn ink and then coloured using a variety of Blends. Now, StazOn and Blends don't usually go hand in hand, because they react with each other, but if you colour on the reverse of the vellum there is no cross contamination and the colours are slightly muted. To finish the picture off I wrapped around some Baker's Twine and added a few Silver Metallic Pearls.

The sentiment is stamped prior to embossing the layer with the Subtle folder to give it a canvas like appearance. The skinny Gorgeous Grape borders help the colours to pop and frame the layers. I love how well Gorgeous Grape and Highland Heather work together, and it was such an appropriate combination for my theme!

Thank you for visiting my blog today - you are currently visiting Karen Henderson. Please look at the list below to see who to visit next. I am sure you will find lots of inspiration on your journey around the hop. Make sure you don't miss any!

The vellum is attached using strategically placed glue dots (behind the butterfly and the Baker's Twine)

    1. Hello! So pleased you like this! Yes, the Blends I used were are all dark shades. As you colour on the reverse of the vellum the colours are slightly muted.
Hope you enjoy making your own version.
