Demonstrator Training October 2019 Blog Hop

Hello and welcome to my blog. I am thrilled to be taking part in a blog hop with fellow demonstrators, from around the world, who are part of Kylie Bertucci's training program. There is no theme for the hop, but there is sure to be a wealth of inspiration for creating with Stampin' Up! products.

I am using a set from the Autumn Winter catalogue called From Our House To Yours. Although it contains some sentiments that would be useful for Christmas, it is so much more than a Christmas set.

This set reminds me of the Fuzzy Felt sets that I played with when I was little (have I given away my age here?). The sets were filled with small felt pieces that would stick temporarily to a felt board so that you could build scenes with them (I had animals and houses!).

I had great fun creating houses with this stamp set. There are plenty of mix and match buildings, rooves, doors and some trees too.

Not only are the images mix and match, but so are the sentiments. I used three separate stamps to make the sentiment on my cards.

To create the background I used sponge brayers, ink and some scrap paper. Using a Whisper White layer I coloured the sky first - I used some scrap paper to cover everything except the sky area and then gently brayered on some Balmy Blue ink. Next, I created the hills using Pear Pizzazz ink and then finally the Grey Granite foreground. For each area of the landscape I used the brayer to apply ink to the exposed area, and the scrap paper protected area where a different colour was required.

After adding the Autumnal skeleton trees and the sentiment to the landscape I also added some dimension with the Subtle embossing folder. The layer was double embossed. After the first impression the piece was rotated 90 degrees and then re-embossed. The resulting texture is wonderful. (Note: There is a solid canopy stamp to add greenery for Spring trees too!) The final step was to add a cluster of houses! Stamp a building, a roof, a front door on to Whisper White card and then cut out the house using Snips. Easy and so satisfying.

Following on from World Card making Day last weekend and Stampin' Up!'s encouragement to send cards out during World Card Sending Week, I thought I would carry on with the making and sending this week too. I have a pile of cards ready to send, and a few more that are almost ready to go - just need to cut out the last few houses! Can't wait to put this pile of cards in the post. Go on , cheer someone up this week and send them a card to tell them that you are thinking of them.
