Be Strong, Be Happy, Be You

Hello and welcome back.  Today I have another autumnal card to share with you using the fabulous Nature's Poem papers and the Rooted in Nature stamps.

This card is almost monochromatic, the paper and the ink are both Soft Suede, but there is  just a splash of Grapefruit Grove bordering the words.

Even though the paper covers almost half of the card front the eye is drawn to the tree and the words.  The tree trunk image is stamped off twice onto scrap paper, before stamping onto the card, so that the image is light and faded.  The tree stands out because it is stamped with full strength ink.  After stamping, I have embossed the layer, using the Subtle embossing folder, to add some more texture and depth.  This embossing folder is wonderful.  As its name suggests, it is a subtle effect.  The result is card looking like linen fabric.  A definite favourite of mine and perfect for so many cards.

The words are stamped as a complete saying in a block.  So, after stamping them I have deconstructed the words into three sections by cutting them with my snips.  As the patterned paper and the stamped tree were both mounted on a layer of card I also wanted to mount the words.  I had a small scrap of patterened paper left over which was perfect to mount them on to.  The reverse side of it is Grapefruit Grove which makes the Soft Suede words really pop.  The finishing touch is a wrap of linen thread with a small bow.

The finished card has plenty of texture and dimension, but it is flat enough to be very post friendly.  These are very wise words, and I shall try to remind myself of them.

As always, happy crafting,

  1. Such a beautiful card. Subtle (like the embossing folder) but striking.
